Last week, whilst we were having a tea break (at which I have coffee), I was moved to take some photos of what I was doing. I drilled 985 holes in four panels:
And then in the afternoon, I used those holes to screw on cedar louvres to the front of this ply. So I filled the 985 holes. It's rather sad that I sort of enjoyed it...there's an obvious start and finish line and I could see what I'd done. Does that make sense. The less enjoyable bit was the muscle ache in my upper arm from holding the drill over the middle lines of holes which I could only reach by stretching! Anyway, the point of this post is not really about the holes, it's about the glue that we then used to fix edgings around these great big panels. Just look at that for a bottle design.
Somebody thought about it.....so when you lie it down, it keeps the glue at the point of delivery and hey - Ranger - please can you do this to the Glossy Accents bottles? And hey - all PVA manufacturers - please can you change your bottles too? Would be fab huh. Mr Dunnit, who uses this glue all the time, never lies it down. Says it takes up too much room on the shelf. Well, you can't please everybody! Joining Elizabeth and Bleubeard over at T Tuesday.
That's a definite plus in my book. I like that clever idea, even if Mr. D. doesn't see the advantage to it. I agree that some of those bottles just don't let anything out without a fight. And with my inability to squeeze like other people can, that can be a real challenge at time. Never heard of this glue, but I plan to look for it.

I would love to see the finished piece of what you are making. I just cannot picture it in my head. Maybe the reason you liked drilling and filling the holes was the instant gratification of seeing the progress... I'm like that sometimes and i don't think its sad. :) Hugs! deb
a great idea for a glue bottle! I get tired of shaking mine, and jiggling it, and standing it up in some sort of container to get the glue to dribble down to the point! how did your louvers come out? happy T day!
what a great glue bottle! genius design - yes, obviously designed by a woman! hope you appropriate it for the craft room once empty. I have so much trouble with my glues! Great drilling, too..
Great design on the glue bottle !!! Hopefully the word will spread and other manufacturers will get on board :0) You definitely have my curiosity on the wood project too :) Come on ...you know we're going nuts here !!! LOL!
I've never laid down a glue bottle for fear of it leaking out al over the place. Who knew! That's a darn lot of holes, but I know what you mean about finding assembly-line work satisfying. It's almost meditative in the repetition and you have something to show for it in the end. ;) Happy T-Day!! :)
Happy T Day - I'm very curious as to why you needed to drill nearly a thousand holes! And then fill them in! That glue bottle is perfect, and if glossy accents were like that, I would probably use it more, lol :o))
What a great idea for the glue bottle. I keep my tacky glue upside down in a section of my turntable organizer so it's always ready.
However, I don't store my FabricTac that way anymore. Not since I found $14 of it (brand new bottle) all poured out and dried in the bottom of one of the organizer sections. Argh.
I totally glue agree..I'd like to see the finished product also, louvres? they are a dusting problem ? If you visit my post today, you'll see I have a thing about dusting.
Brilliant, Julia. Love the way the bottle doesn't roll off, and the glue is always at the tip ready for use. Today I was moaning to myself about poor design - it seems you can no longer buy a thermos flask without a fancy lid that you can pour through. All very clever and all that, but a complete pain to wash up! It traps a lot of liquid inside and I'm never convinced I've got it clean, and I'm sure it's full of all sorts of gunk. My hubby uses it regularly and I want it to be safe and clean for him. Today I found myself saying, "Must have been designed by a man" lol!!
You drilled HOW MANY...gosh your arms really must be aching. That looks like the perfect glue bottle. My Glossy Accents has a rubber band around it with a long pin because it doesn't matter whether I store it up-right, up-side down or on its side - I still need to poke it with the pin to get things running. I've had 4 holes to drill for over a month- and even a friend who said he would do it for me. so what's my excuse. eileens tacky glue just came out with upside down glue bottles- like ketchup.
