What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 297

Well, Deskers, here we are, hurtling towards the 300th edition! Several have asked if there are plans to mark it...not really. I have a thing for the anniversary which is only about three months away, and it causes enough mayhem...although I can't get enough of it! Instead of a huge 'thing' on the 300th, I'll make a little speech and then we'll all go about our Wednesday feeling cheery - how about that?  Cool. Onwards then, theres loads to see.

The very best thing about this photo for me is that I took it yesterday at about 4.30 in the afternoon. Still light outside!  Man, that's such welcome progress. That turning world..it actually is starting to show that it's turning.  And in less profound news...the desk shows a card I 're-worked' for an upcoming workshop. Due to popular demand *snort*. Under that is the notebook listing ingredients and method.  Of course there's the glitter glues again - never mind Christmas...isn't glitter or pearly the law when you're doing butterfly stuff? The pile of boxes are china and glass bottles awaiting some paint and pattern.  The box on top which makes the whole thing look precarious is actually filled with printer cartridges and will be put into a proper location when I have determined that the person who is using the printer is satisfied with the supply. It caused some bad words late yesterday, see. Amazing how someone so unendingly patient with his wife and her follies can be so impatient (and rude) over an inanimate object! I think that's it in terms of interest here. Look at your own desk..photograph it, upload it to your blog and link here so that I can be sure that mine is as interesting as yours. It's important to me.

  2. Morning Julia - how lovely to see your desk taken in daylight, (even if it was yesterday!) and yes, how noticeably longer the days are getting. Your glitter holder is impressive (mine are tumbled in drawers..)
Hope the printer is behaving itself soon, I still haven't replaced mine so still can't print any of my photos. hey ho!

  3. Dont get me started on printers...my yellow ink ran out yesterday and now the whole thing is on strike till I feed it more ink! Love the butterfly card and who said sparkles are only for the 25th? I am a bling queen...all be it a grungy steam punk one!

  7. Hi Julia, glad for you all that there is some improvement to the daylight and hopefully the weather...much nicer here this week. 8. What is it about printers? It seems we are all putting new ink in at the mo. Do they all talk to each other? Or maybe they dry up in the cold weather?
Have a great week. Enjoy the longer daylight hours....I am :-)
    Hugs,

  9. Good morning Julia, I'm happy to be here again this week and see what everyone is upto.
You may have printer cartridges but I had a heap of red engineers boilersuits shoved under my lovely Singer sewing machine table in the hallway. They were there a week so yesterday I dumped them on the floor in the meet of the hall for hubby to fall over, which he did and on seeing my raised eyebrows shifted them.
He says nothing about all the piles of books and STUFF I have all over the house haha.
    Have a good week.

  10. No such thing as too much bling, or sparkly, or pearly :)
I can't see Mr Linky, but I've got a feeling it's a problem on my end, although I've got no idea why? Oh well ... will try again later :)

  11. I try to keep my shades open as long as possible to glean every last moment of sunlight. Of course, as luck would have it, there are workmen on scaffolds right across from my window - so I either have to keep my shades closed or risk being stared at all day!

I was thinking, as I studied your desk today, how yours looks so different every week - mine looks pretty much the same unless the cat has knocked over one of my many stacks! Lately I've been lugging things downstairs to the dining room table to craft...

Rambling on but stopping by to wish you a happy WOYWW!

  19. Looks like you have lots going on Julia.
The lighter evenings aren't quite stretching to the time I travel home from work - yet - but the mornings are so much nicer. No more stumbling round in the dark not wanting to disturb anyone.

  20. Lovely busy desk Julia and yes I can see daylight too. Printers, oh boy! Told my one not to buy cheap cartridges for the laser!!!
Now we have some of the good stuff again thank goodness.

  21. Yes, it's so nice when days get longer. When I lived in the UK I used to go to work in the dark and come back in the dark. The day I came back in daylight was a celebration!
I like you card with butterflies. I suppose it's for a workshop. And the upside down bottles must be glitter or something. I don't posess any glitter apart from some Christmas red and green glitter glue from the 'pound shop'. It's nice to have glitter in soft colours.
    Have a great week,

  24. Love your comment about your husband! I think that's very British!! Lots of cool things going on at your desk today!!! Can't believe we are going on 300!!! I have to say, Julia, that's a lot of work for you!! I tried putting a linky on once and I gave up after 1 try! Too much work! So thank you 300 times!!! An advance happy valentine to you and your husband who really is the nicest person. I can't believe he made a carved wooden stand for us a couple of years ago! I don't think my husband would make ONE even for me! Patsy

  26. I spy stickles. I bought those once, didn't use them, sold them on then wished I still had them! I often do that with stash!

  27. Hi Julia, lovely to see daylight through your window- I'm sure you agree with that. It is nice the nights are drawing out, Loving the butterfly card, and yes glitter with butterflies (and dragonflies) is obligatory. I really, really need one of those Stickles holders. Can you buy them, or did some lovely handyman make it for you?
Have a lovely week, huge hugs, Shaz xxx
By the way, think I may have solved the crop problem, will be a short visit, but we should still be there!

  28. I have been known to let loose a few flying karate kicks at a printer, never mind a few rude words. They blatantly bait people. They do.

Love the card and am loving the lighter afternoons too!

  29. Oh how nice to see the green grass out the window. Must be lovely for sitting and crafting of a afternoon :) That is a cool stickles holder being able to store them upside down. Butterfly card is beautiful..love it :) Shel #45

  31. Not only is glitter the law when doing butterfly stuff - a trail of it around the house allows your family to find you! I know this from experience. Love your desk today! Sandy Leigh

  32. The very first thing I noticed in your photo, Julia, is the GREEN GRASS. the GREEN PLANTS. The BRIGHT, SNOWLESS DAY. Ok. I'm getting over it. {sniff} Oh yes, the desk. The card is beautiful. The more sparkly the better for butterflies -- goes without saying. Still loving your Stickles holder. Happy WOYWW.

  33. the 'person using the printer' must be a man.. I recognize the things you describe, ha! Yes, isn't it lovely that Spring is really near... I too love that I have daylight in the atelier almost untill dinertime! I'm looking forward to get creative in the evenings too (but we will be way into Summer then...) 35. The green in your pic caught my eyes straight away...we wont have green for a month yet, but the sun has been shining for a couple of days and actually with the snow the enlightening effect is double. Besides I had time to watch the sunrise today (and just half an hour ago my son complained that its too hot, when the sun shines on him through the window!)

  36. Glitter can be used all the time! I am sure I use it far too much, but who can get bored of pretty sparkliness!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I liked that card when I saw it in t'flesh yesterday! Butterflies and glitter are synonymous, aren't they - it's the law that they have to be used together :-)
I've started knitting a Hooter in Cadbury Purple tinsel yarn at SW this morning. It's good colour therapy, a really happy colour!

  45. Printers are going to be the death of me, I have one with bloody gremlins in it. I also purchased one of those stickles caddies, stupid thing you have to leave one out or the bottles get stuck in the lid. I took it back and got a refund. I hope you are doing well, nice to see some light beaming in your window. Sorry posting late this week, it hasn't been a good week for me.

  47. Yes, I definitely like it when the evenings begin to be lighter. Just now, I'm driving to my mum's at tea-time in the daylight. Coming back, after I've made her tea, it's still dark - but that won't be for too long I hope!

The butterfly card looks interesting... And of Course butterflies Must have sparkle and glow - or they just wouldn't look right! Enjoy your course :-)

There's a little bit of shimmer on my desk this week too (can you spot it?)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lovely butterflies, but my favourite thing about your desk this week is how light it was at that time of day. Hooray for lighter evenings.

  50. Hello, Julia, I'm enjoying the benefits of the earth's rotation over here, too. It makes such a difference to be driving home from work in daylight/dusk versus dark. I agree wholeheartedly -- butterflies & glitter or shimmer definitely go together. :) Happiest of WOYWWs to you! ~ Laura #53

  51. Thanks for visiting my blog Julia! My interview went quite well - thanks for the good luck wishes. I'm just concerned that if I get the job, I won't have that much time to do arting and WOYWW-ing any more :( So true about the day light! Is it at all possible that winter is behind us now? 53. I envy your garden, I have none what so ever :) - AND Yes !!!! You ARE allowed to use glitter all around the year and counting the nights even. He he. It is a lovely place you have Julia and men sometimes think they can make all technically things without even knowing what they are ... I say no more lol... Thanks for this and all the other great things you are doing

    Kind regards

  54. Forget the daylight...it's the green!! We'll have snow on the ground through April at this rate! And while I don't think butterflies are mandatory glitter-users; I do find them one of the acceptable subjects! I do like the look of that card...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well, if a certain someone is so picky about their printer ink, then perhaps they should go pick it up their own gosh darn selves. Just sayin'. Sheesh.

There are things I never, ever buy because I'm sure to get the wrong thing every time.

Yay for more daylight and yay for glittery butterflies!

    Happy creating and happy woyww,

  62. Have got a new Kindle so am addicted to reading at the moment so yesterday was spent doing that plus we had no heating as the boiler had to be fixed so that's my excuse and I am sticking to it.
I thought it was a rule that butterflies had to have sparkle on them somewhere - or am I mistaken - don't think so. Shoes, I think come into the same category - am sure there are others.
    Keep sparkling!

  63. Thanks for a lovely comment, Julia, and for your encouragement for my coming ordeal. The anaesthetist pulled a face when I told her about the primitive post-op pain relief I experienced 20 years ago and said, "We can do a lot better than that now" and outlined all the measures they will take to make me comfortable. I have discovered a hilarious thread on a health forum I'm on, shared by what they call "ileostomates" (love it) full of poo jokes. The guy who started it told me that before I know it, poo will start to dominate my life, and poo jokes lol! Funny how poo brings out the child in all or us, isn't it! I think humour, as well as being mentally strong and having a positive attitude, is half the battle. Someone else said I had guts in my head. Must get my surgeon to dust off his anatomy books and check out that weird bit of anatomy lol!!

We'll get through it somehow, however unpleasant it may be.

Thanks for passing on my message to Zsuzsa. I have emailed her. It's strange, but the whole comments section on her blog is missing for me - I don't think it can be any Firefox settings or anything, because hers is the only blog this is happening with.
