What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 383

The beauty on my desk was a birthday gift from Jan and I've decided I need to do something to the frame. I've only had it hanging for two years, so this is a bit of a rush decision. I'm probably going to just give it a wax polish, so a major alteration isn't on the cards. And it's on my desk because it's a thing I plan to do this very day.  The corner of the box at left is filled with some more wood mounted stamps from my Mum's collection - waiting to be photographed and put up for sale. The wrapping paper is there because I have several birthday presents to wrap....it may look a mess, but it's all a sensible mess! The pink thing underneath the picture is a file, filled with print outs of card ideas that my mum has collected. I thought it would be nice to browse her library of cuttings and clippings before just consigning them to the bin - it might prove really inspiring!
And talking of inspiring...drag yourselves away from the glory of autumn for a mo will you - make a nice blog post about what's on your work desk, and link it here, we do want to see.

It's always nice to see ideas and I like your mother do the same thing and collect ideas into a file. It's really good to have you back and almost 100%

Nice gift and I think the idea of waxing the frame is a good one as it will not detract from the colours inside.
Cannot believe I am on here when I should be having a shower and a bit of something to eat - doctors appointment at 7.40 - eek!

Those letter pictures are great, aren't they? Jan kindly sent me one, with my boy's name, that was about to be discarded. Have fun waxing the frame.

A sensible mess and a waxing this week? Don't think I've ever had a sensible mess....ever. Mine are 'pull it all out for inspiration' sort of messes and it happens most days lately. And as for waxing....Jo did my legs once when I was 3 months pregnant!! never gain I say lol.....Oh you mean wood waxing? Sounds perfect to me....hope we get to see the results.
Have a great week.
Hugs,

A touch of wax will bring the frame up a treat. I am sure you will find lots of inspiration in those photos and clippings .... a holiday back in time.

Hi Julia, you could do all kinds of things with that frame but the sentiment is so nice it would be a shame to do anything else than wax it. Have a great woyww, Angela x 14. Early this morning as I'm off to the Health Club, if I still have the strength when I get back I will visit the other desks Lol! xXx

Hi Julia, I see a few comments about leg waxing, so I'll be restrained, lol. That'll be a first, then. Some wax should make it look lovelier than it already is. Isn't she a wonderful friend? I don't think I've ever had a sensible mess in my life, I may have to try that. :) Have a lovely week dear lady, Love & Hugs, Shaz xxx

Just slipping in (is it wise to say that on here?!!) before little soldier arrives. When you've waxed the frame will it repel dust? Just interested .......

Have a good week

Love the framed photo from Jan, Your desk makes me feel good. I can't even find mine. Totally buried and I couldn't even make way to find it at the end of the room through all the stacked up mess. Maybe birthday parties also ? Have fun with it all.

Was aiming to be very early but it's taken me 3 hours to finally post! Love that artwork, is it a textile piece? This late summer/early Autumn weather has been glorious. But then, I'm a sunshine, blue sky kinda girl. Happy WOYWW Cindy xx

A "sensible" mess certainly sounds manageable! And I guess you'll have a nice clear space when you finish with the waxing of the frame. Have a good week, and enjoy those pleasant Autumn days, as we head all too fast towards the heat of Summer.

Plenty of method behind what is on your desk this week Julia - and hasn't it been lovely still having some sunshine to take us into Autumn.

Oh, I do hope you find some inspiration in your mom's things! It sounds like it would be interesting to sort through all of that and see what inspired her. Wrapping paper. . .it seems like there are so many birthdays this time of the year doesn't it? I know we just had something like 5 in the past two weeks. Here's hoping you get to it all and have a good time doing it!

Great to see you have good intentions and hope you get the frame done today as planned. I seem to be thwarted by life's little traumas at the moment and don't have the inclination for anything much. Made myself do my WOYWW post though despite the lack of crafting as somehow I think it keeps me sane.
Thanks for being there for us all despite everything yourself. Hugs, BJ#36

After being awake super-early, I forgot to post my blog and join in on WOYWW? lol
Your gift from Jan is stunning - and as for waiting only 2 years to have fun with the frame... well, that's not very long - I've been planning on papering the top of my stairs landing and hanging 2 pictures for nearly three years :)

Hi Julia, well, I have dragged myself away from the glorious autumn sunshine as ordered and finally joined in again ... don't ask me how but I forgot it was Wednesday! By now, you have probably waxed the frame from LLJ. Two years isn't so bad, in my humble opinion. I have UFOs that go back at least 3 years! I have a file of clippings too - very useful when I'm all out of inspiration. Happy WOYWW and hugs, Elizabeth x #45

Your mom had a stamp collection? That is so cool! I can't even imagine what all the stamps were like. Can't wait to see what you do with the frame! Sandy Leigh

You know what is on my work desk today? Not photographed, mind you, but a bad cat. I walked in that there was pudgy Poppy chewing happily away at some papers that she pawed out of one of the cubby holes. I tell you those cats will be the death of me yet.

I applaud your sensible timeline for framing your wall hanging. One mustn't be rash. I also understand the bit about the "sensible mess." If you know what is there and can access it--it's all good.

Just me back Julia to reassure you that when I cleared the box out all I did was move the stuff to another box Lol! I haven't thrown anything away other than some waste paper so no need to worry! Have a great week, Angela x

I love to alter objects - and frames are one of my favorites. Vickie (Okienurse) is my mom and she's the one who got me into crafting in general. I've just started posting on my blog again after a couple years - I hope to participate in WOYWW!

A simple waxing on that frame will be perfect. It won't detract from the design. It's a fantastic present. Hope you got some inspiration from your mum's cuttings too. Sorry I'm so late getting to commenting, but we were off enjoying some art for the last few days. thanks for visiting me. Have a blessed week, LisaDV #34
