What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 415

Good grief, gentle desker, we are one week away from the eighth anniversary of this visit thing. How amazing. HERE is the page that explains how we're doing a round robin ATC swap to mark the occasion. If you want to. If you don't, treat the day as a normal Wednesday!

Now if you have any, you may want to put on your rose tinted glasses for this one. This is the fully extended dining table, acting as a tax office. Seriously, I have let it sit like this - or a variant of this for nearly a week.
Yesterday, I hastened through other chores so as to get to the tax returns pronto - one being nearly finished means that the others are easier, see. But...I had been listening to a really good audio book whilst I've chored this past week, and couldn't bear to turn it off in order to concentrate. There was one hour and eleven minutes to go. So I went to my proper desk and made a couple of cards from generous scraps and then started on another couple. So here's the real desk taken at teatime yesterday. It still looks the same this morning. I have an hour and eleven minutes to make up today. Worth it though!
The 'Wake Up and be Awesome' card is a prototype from last week's workshop. Shows how they change as I fiddle about, huh! The butterfly cards will join some others that I've made up from decent scraps. We're going on a big holiday very soon, and it will be nice to have some handmade card packs to offer as small gifts when the need arises. The little plastic rose embellishments at left are a find from a garden centre near my sister's house. So pretty! Not easy to see, but there's a pile of ATCs just above the tape gun. They are for next week's swap - if you'd like to receive one from me, please ping me your address and I shall make it happen! It sounds as if I've been utterly craft prolific. I haven't really, more craft panicked. Please show and tell your work space, particularly as I'm now out of craft inspiration!

well your desk is busier than mine, although I do have some journal pages to share and new goodies, too.... not an atc in sight, despite reminders I still thought it was another week away... may get at least a swap partner's done though! Bet you're looking forward to your holiday, it will be amazing. Hope the tax is done soon! Helen #1

Morning Julia. Sounds like we are all of a mind here - I've nothing on my desk at present, but have been really busy craftwise. I actually tidied up! I know - Can't quite believe it myself!! Trust you get all your tax thingies done - and get back to another good book. I would be thrilled to receive an ATC from yourself - You should still have my details, I think.
Take care young lady. God bless.

My taxes were due in April, so I don't envy you. It's even harder when you own your own business.

Not playing this week, but wouldn't miss an anniversary for anything. I'm taking a break from the computer to gather my thoughts because I have a dear friend I first met when we were in grad school who just died of cancer. Not been a fun time for me or her three children. See you next week for sure, though.

Oops I'm a bit behind if the anniversary is NEXT WEEK! Too busy scrapping!!!

Don't talk to me about the gov.uk site as I now cannot logon to it as they have added extra levels of security and as I don't work nor have a valid passport it seems they cannot now verify my existence despite my username and password and the phone call access code working OK. I have complained numerous times but they just cannot deal with unusual people!

Love the butterfly cards. BJ#4

Hi Julia- I would have been like you and carried on listening to the book :-) Hope you soon get the pesky tax stuff finished and can look forward to the holiday - I'm intrigued :-) Like the cards. Would love to receive an ATC from you will send my address. Anne x #10

That phone call access is a pain in the backside. I had to go through the process three times during one session when I was going from one department to another. I feel your pain grrrrrr !

The office desk looked like yours for over a week recently during a VAT session. Sometimes I wished we just worked for someone else and could walk away at the end of the working day and get paid for holidays and sick days (not that we have many of either).
Good luck with the atc swap, I won't join in as I'm a commitment phobic, but I do thank you Julia for 8 wonderful years of this great community

I think I could be very easily distracted from tax stuff too. Crafting is an infinitely better way of spending a few hours isn't it. What book have you been listening too?
Finishing my ATC's is on my to do list today.
Have a good week, despite the tax stuff!!!

You'll have earned that holiday after clearing all that lot on your table ..... a good book and crafting sounds much better - admire your choice.

Love to swap ATCs with you, you send me yours and I'll send you mine! lol
Power and determination to you and a clear table.

I don't believe you could ever be out of inspiration - as it's always inspiring to see your desk! Lots going on today for you - I am so loving the butterfly cards. BUT you need a coffee refill lol. I'm guessing that partly hidden under the card is an eraser? At first I thought it was a biscuit half covered :D
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Happy WOYWW. Tax returns - that looks familiar. Need to finish mine off. ATCs - so far I have written it down in my diary as a task, so it will get done (last minute of course!). Lovely butterfly cards. Where are you off to on holiday? Ali x #23

Lol at being craft panicked! My state, frequently. But having some sort of deadline- usually a birthday or such- snapping at my heels does usually help inspiration to strike. I shall message you my addy, as I'd love an ATC. :)I see you have a couple of Versacolor inkpads, they seem to be the new thing, do you like them? I'm hoping you say no,or so-so, I don't have room (or reason) for more inkpads! Huge hugs, Julia, Love Shaz #7 XxXx

Craft panicked!! I think that's hit a nerve with many of us deskers this morning..my atc is such a cheat this year. But it's either that or nothing, I'm afraid so hey ho!
Have you packed yet? Hahahahahahaha.....

I like the second desk photo better than the top one Julia... I hope you will be finished with administration soon and have time to craft or walk in the sun - is the weather as nice overthere in Britain as it is in the Netherlands? With the sun shining it is not difficult to 'wake up and be awesome' (or at least, FEEL awesome!) Hope you have a lovely week, hug from across the North Sea, Marit #24

Well, at least you have your priorities straight! I don't envy all that tax work one bit, thank goodness I don't have to do it! Nice to see butterflies - our cards often represent the seasons, don't you think? I am opting out of the ATC swap (just don't have the time) but I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else is making! Lindart #33

Oh YAY for an upcoming vacation to motivate the getting the work behind you. ( do you do taxes for other people too besides your own?) I could not even imagine doing them by hand on paper anymore ( payroll taxes at work)
:) I hope you have a really good time while you are gone and good for you for making them up in advance those card gifts. I always intend to and then almost always end up mailing things when I get home again.

We shouldn't let our ATCs stress us but a bit of last minute panicking is the way to get things done FAST! Annie and I will post you one of ours as usual but don't feel you have to send back - you know us - we just love to share our bits and bobs around the globe!! xx Jo

You have been busy! I love the idea of bringing some cards along on a trip - I think I might borrow that. Thanks for visiting me!

Craft Panicked..that is a good term! I haven't tried audio books yet. I'm afraid they won't come to life in my brain the way books do; but then I'm the one who can read a book either with tears streaming down my face, or laughing so hard I can't breathe. The people at work think I'm nuts. Good luck with the taxes, but your crafty desk looks truly productive. Have a great week.

Hi Julia, I love the tax desk - but not what is on it. It looks such a huge desk and would make a wonderful craft area for me. Hope you got caught up from the enforced listening yesterday.
Now your other desk - looks much more interesting. I see the striped deck chair is still empty - now where has it's "sitter" gone? Two very pretty cards adorn the back of your desk and you mention some atc's for swapping. Would love to ping you as you put it (love that expression) but not sure what state I will be in come next Wednesday with the bathroom in action. I will have to leave it until nearer the time but am sure I will be pinging YOU. It's almost tradition!
Hugs, Neet 13 xx

Hi Julia, I join you in your craft panic. So much to do, so little time! Your real desk is, of course, much more interesting than boring old tax returns. I read with interest this week that submitting your returns online to good old HMRC is perhaps not such a good idea. It's getting the sums wrong and overcharging so your paper method is probably the safest way to go. Anyway, on to your 'proper' desk. There's nothing like a good audio book to help the creative flow. I'm just intrigued as to what book could keep you so enthralled - do let me know the title! I like the cards made from generous scraps - pretty butterflies. Hope you have a great week, despite the taxing stuff. Hugs, Elizabeth x #46

Julia - the bottle of stuff you were asking about on my desk is "Goo Gone" - a label remover. I usually use it to take the price stickers off the binders I get at Value Village - they are horrible! Lindart

craftigf instead of doing "real" work, haha, we're all guilty to that on. I don't think I could bear my dining table to be covered with tax papers for more then a day, where do you eat? A late happy WOYW, Vicky
